TYPES OF THERAPEUTIC MASSAGE

SWEDISH — The most common of massages, to relax the entire body by rubbing the muscles with long gliding strokes in the direction of blood returning to the heart. It is exceptional for increasing the level of oxygen in the blood, decreasing muscle toxins, improving circulation and flexibility while easing tension.

DEEP TISSUE/SPORTS MASSAGE — Similar to Swedish but is used to target knots and release chronic muscle tension.  Other benefits include reducing inflammation and helping to eliminate scar tissue.  This is great for rehabilitation after injuries for chronic issues or keeping in shape.

PRENATAL—Massage during pregnancy offers undeniable physical benefits. Your therapist will also work to relieve the normal discomforts experienced during pregnancy, such as backaches, neck pain, leg cramps, headaches, joint pain, carpal tunnel and edema.

High risk patients need to obtain approval from your obstetrician before receiving any form of massage during pregnancy.

HOT STONE — Hot Stone Therapy melts away tension, eases muscle stiffness, and increases circulation and metabolism. Each session features the placement of smooth, water-heated stones at key points on the body to allow for deeper relaxation of the muscles.

SCALP MASSAGE — Massaging the scalp can help stimulate the nerves and blood vessels beneath the skin while calming muscle tension around the head. Great for headaches.

REFLEXOLOGY — Reflexology is a branch of massage that focuses solely on the hands and feet. Reflexology uses specifically targeted points on the extremities to affect organs in the torso which enhances health & vitality.

MYOFASCIAL RELEASE — Fascia is the connective tissue that holds the muscles, bones, and all tissues in the body in place. With injury, over use, emotional issues and dehydration, this connective tissue compresses which limits movement and holds tension.

ENERGY WORK — Techniques of energy work balance and strengthen the energy of the body, including physical, emotional, mental and spiritual imbalances. Cleanses the body of its congested energy reserves and reinforces the energy balance and recharges weak areas once again. Energy work helps us to free ourselves from our past problems; gain a new, fresh outlook on life; and dynamically reinforces physical benefits, especially during stressful times.

REIKI — a Japanese energy work modality, based on the universal life energy, which feeds energy to where ever the body needs it, truly empowering the body to heal itself.

CHAKRA CLEARING & STRENGTHENING — Based on Ayurvedic traditions, the chakras are vortexes of energy that rotate at different areas of the body, holding information that get congested, over stimulated or weakened. Clearing and rebalancing chakras gives new balance to organs, glands and the body’s structure and nervous system.

SHIATSU/ACUPRESSURE — A deep, finger-pressure technique using the traditional acupuncture points of Asian healing. Works to unblock energy flows and restore balance to meridians and organs.
